I’m Eric Salinas, a Senior Industrial Designer with eight years of experience at Klein Tools, specializing in the design and development of professional tools and equipment.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the University of Houston, where I learned my design process—concept ideation and sketching through detailed SolidWorks CAD, Keyshot rendering, and functional prototyping for proof of concept.
I began my career at Klein Tools as an Industrial Designer, learning under an experienced mentor who helped bridge the mechanical and feasibility side of product development with what I learned in school. This experience strengthened my understanding of manufacturing variables like draft, CAD workflow, and part refinement, which elevated the quality of my sketches, presentations, prototypes, and CMF documentation.
As my role evolved into Senior Industrial Designer, I took on increased ownership of the product design features that needed more early research on users and marketplace trends. I also took on new design roles like unifying our shared icons/markings, creating user interface designs for a better digital product, and SOP for color consistency across product lines.
My design philosophy is to always build for durability, stand out features, and intuitive use.
